2500 non HD lift question?

Hey guys, I know this has been talked about before but when I put in a search it really didnt bring me up to anything that answered my questions, not to mention they were alot older threads and alot has changed since then. I have a 2002 Chevy 2500 non HD extended cab with the 6.0L of course. Well I know Pro Comp and Superlift are two companies that make 6inch lifts for these trucks. Ive heard differant opinions on each of these companies. So I went searching at ntwonline.com (a site ive gotten alot of stuff from in the past and have been very pleased with there pricing and service) and I found the superlift kit they have for this truck but it has no details about this lift kit. It shows it under the new F.I.T kit. Im trying to avoid a knuckle lift for differant reasons, but it didnt say if this kit was the knuckle or the full drop version. So I went to Pro Comp and I couldnt even find a kit from them for these trucks. So my questions are, is that superlift kit the F.I.T or the basic kit? Since I have push button 4wd im going to need the aftermarket front driveshaft right? Also if that all falls through where do I go about finding the Pro Comp 6inch kit for this truck? Im open to all sugestions ladies and gentlemen. Im fixing to come back from Iraq and I payed the truck off already and have some money to play with and I wanted to put some into the truck. If theres another site that would help me better please include in your reply. Im just trying to get all the info I can with these lifts so I can make the best purchase for the money. I know its alot to a ask but I appreciate all yall's help. :rocking:

Thankyou

01'2500...where did you get your lift from and do you mind if I ask how much it ended up running you? I didnt know they made one thats why I didnt mention them before. Ive always just been told those two. Is it a full drop kit or a knuckle kit? Id love to get some more info from you if thats not to much to ask. Thanks:rocking:

I have an 04 crewcab 2500 non-HD Chevy with a 6" fulldrop procomp on it. The procomp fulldrop kit is the same for 1500HD, 2500non-HD, & 2500HD's. I got mine shipped for $1750 with steering stabilizer, shocks, lift, 2pc rear driveshaft shim kit, and front driveshaft.

tha 2500 and 2500HD are mostly gonna be tha same from most companies...there isnt too much differance...i know tha 1500HD is tha same as a 2500LD and my kit would fit a 2500HD...

The ProComp is a better lift kit (out of those two choices). Install isn't as easy as a Rancho or Cognito type lift, but it's better than the Superlift. The correct part number ProComp kit is a K1051B (B is for a black kit...they used to be a K1051 kit which was painted grey). Opt for the ES9000 shocks or the MX6's...the ES3000's are crap for that truck. Normal prices should start at $1600 for the kit. You will need the exhaust rerouted.

thanks for all the replies guys. Its been a big help for me. As for the exhaust being rerouted, I got the stock exhaust back on and plan on getting an aftermarket exhaust. If I were to install the lift kit myself but not have anything to mess with the exhaust at my house what would I end up having to do to fit the lift on correctly without problems? Or in that case should I just get a shop to install it. I know I would rather try the install myself but with us getting back from deployment and having alot of shit planned I might not have the time. Im wondering if it would just be less time consuming and smarter if I just have a shop like 4wheelparts do it for me. Again thanks for the help, its basically formed the foundation, I am just trying to get a few questions answered so itll form the final structure if you know what I mean. Thanks for the part number!

There are plenty of pics of the procomp install in my signature below on my webshots page. I just ran to the exhaust shop without the front driveshaft in so they could reroute the exhaust and then I installed the driveshaft once I got home. The install is time comsuming but not too difficult, just read the instructions multiple times. There is alot of cutting involved too...not for the squimish! Only complaints I have with my procomp is the powdercoating is alittle thin. WHen installing the lift and banging the parts around to get them into place alot of times you will get some chipping. Nothing touchup paint cant solve!

thanks for the pics. Did you do the install all by yourself or did you have another hand or two to help out? What type of saw did you use to cut through all that? So I take it that with this kit it wouldnt be able to be brought back to stock form later down the road if something were to come up? Im really liking the pro comp lift and alot of people have said good things about it. Im going to have to look more into that kit. Thanks for the help. :head:

I did the install myself with the help of 2 other guys on and off. I used a sawzall and grinder with a cutoff wheel for the cutting. I used a torch once but had cleaner better results with the sawzall. Returning to stock is possible but would require a decent amount of welding. I do like the lift and it holds alignment great so far. I went the 6"fulldrop route because I didn't want my front tires to stick out anymore for legal factors. The cops in MD are anal about tires sticking out so I didn't want to give them anymore reason to stop me. If tires sticking out wasn't an issue I'd probably gone the knuckle lift route, certainly much easier to install and also can be returned to stock as long as the lift manufacturer has a plate to bolt onto the front diff to enable it to bolt back to stock. If money wasn't a factor I would have gone with the cognito. Overall the procomp is definitely a good lift and certainly a little easier on the wallet!

Thanks for the help Rick! Yeah I was thinking about the knuckle lift to, but my tires stick out up front more then enough as is, so I didnt want to deal with them being even further. Im defitnetly going to have to do more research to find one for a good price. If things go well hopefully I will have one of my own. I already got a 3inch body and just hoping to be able to run 36's so I dont think that will be to hard with the 6inch full drop. Thanks again!

36's wont be any problem for you. I'm pondering them with just the 6" lift alone...pending what my bumper height will end up at for legal factors. I got my lift through a member on fullsizechevy.com named bigredz I think. He basically did the ordering through wholesale with 4wheelparts.com, it did save me some $$$
