I kno its normal for a check engine light to come on after putting on headers. I got my hooker long tubes on my 96 tahoe and my o2 sensors extended and put in and an o2 simulator connected to the 3rd. Now what are some ways I can get that light off with, i kno its doing no harm it just bugs me.

get a tune!(westers, nelson, pcmforless) Youll have a ton more power and your check engine light will go away.

with a 96 i would just try unhooking the battery. if that doesnt work, youll have to get ahold of a scanner to get rid of it.

If you disconnect your battery and the light goes off, but then soon comes back on, that means your problem still exists. but if it stays off, it was just soomething to do with your headers.

I would go to an autozone or somewhere who has a scanner, just to see what the code is, thatway you know it was the exhaust for sure, not something else.

its common for it to come on with more air flow and all, they're coated. Clearing the code can't be done permanently with just removing the battery cable or getting a scanner. How much do tunes cost and do they make them for my vehicle
Thats not really what I was leaning towards but...... The O2's have to be at a certain temp or they will throw a code. Look into a tune.
