Default need lift info leaf spring/coil spring lift 52" tires

heys guys new to the forum but not in modifiyng. i'm usually use to taking trucks down to the ground but now i'm going up. so here it the new weekend play toy it is 85' chevy, going on an 85" 1ton frame setup, more than stock chevy 350, dana 44 axels. 52" mich. XZL military tires. i know there is lot of questions but one major i have is leaf spring, or coil spring, 4link, whats good lift and movement. i plan building up a houseing off the axel to gain some lift. i don't like the large amount of lift blocks. looking at mudding, mild crawling, and a little highway driving. i tried to hit up mylevel52 seems to be unhelpful when ask. thanks guys and i'll post the build up when done. any info is handy

1 ton frame but halfton axles? have fun with those puny pieces of shit under there. My 10b hated 40s, i can't imagine what 52s would do to them...not to mention, half ton brakes SUCK...BAD! First thing you should do is consider rockwells and go from there...you will also need one mean small block to spin 52s over in mud enough...sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but theres no cheap, easy way to run 52s.

btw, i have some 8" leafs for that year model truck for sale. u would have to make some drop mounts on the front of ur truck, but if u do what u described then who cares cuz it will just be a mud toy. not a show truck

ya i know the axels and stuff are not big i have heard that......but what are pros/cons of liftcoils or leaf springs. i am basically trying to get the chasis rolling then going in and modify/ upgrading. i figure if my small block was doing around 400hp and certain gears i would be fine?? but before i dive in and lift i need to know which direction to lean to leaf or coil???? thanks guys

I think it depends on cash flow. Coils are going to be more expensive then leaves

leaf springs will be easiest and pretty damn cheap. You could do coils, but it would need to be linked, making it somewhat pricey. For the most simplicity of swapping axles out later, leaf springs cant be beat. If using corporate axles, 5.38 is the lowest gear, and thats only good for about a 42 IMO...even with 400 hp and 5.38s, its still gonna be stressing stuff, esp the trans. Rocks have either 6.16s or 7.17s stock, can't remember which, which is much more suited for 50" tires...

I believe that Rockwells have 6.16 stock.
